Etymology

Derived from its majuscule counterpart Ϝ, from the Phoenician letter 𐤅, waw.

1. Lower case digamma, the sixth letter of the ancient Greek alphabet. Its name was probably ϝαῦ, later δίγαμμα, and it represented a voiced labial-velar approximant:IPA: /w/. It is preceded by ε and followed by ζ.
